Photoshop Painting

Here is a blue pencil sketch and then a painted version of one of my Transformers. I used the airbrush tool in Adobe Photoshop for the color. I like to use blue col-erase pencils to sketch. The Transformer is Alternators Silverstreak.

The Best of the Rest

Last night I attended an ASIFA Hollywood event hosted by animation historian Jerry Beck. A lot of old and very rare non-Disney shorts were shown from studios like Fleisher, MGM, Terrrytoons, Walter Lantz and many others. Usually when people ask me why I’m going into animation I tell them that it's because I love to draw and I want to make kids happy. But last night I realized another reason. I grew up watching reruns of Looney Toons, Popeye, Woody Woodpecker, Heckle & Jeckle and many other classics. I also watched a lot of new (at the time) shows like Transformers, Thundercats, Smurfs, He-Man, Voltron and many others. These cartoons along with all of the great Disney stuff is what truly inspired me to go into animation.

Cheetara

I recently finished a class at the Animation Academy in Burbank, California and one of the things that I did was a redesign of Cheetara from the 80's TV show Thundercats. I love 80's action cartoons like Thundercats, Transformers, He-Man and Voltron.
