Inspiration: John Nevarez

This is another awesome artist’s sketchbook that I picked up at Comic-Con. John Nevarez is a storyboard and visual development artist for Disney TV Animation. I love how fun his work is.

I reworked the Eliza Screaming and did a few tweaks to the Flower Lady Eliza in the sleeves. The other two drawings are and interaction between Higgins and Flower Lady Eliza and one of Higgins teaching.

Ben & Nathan on a Train

I took the boys to get their photos taken, but didn't have a lot of success with getting Ben to smile. This was a rare one were I even managed to get Nathan to smile. Grandma sent them the shirts. Thomas the tank engine is all that Ben will talk about most of the time.

Eliza Action Poses

A few Eliza action poses.

Inspiration: Patrick Morgan

Patrick Morgan is a cool artist who I recently found out about. He designs for the X's and is also currently working on his own show called Whaleboy.

Inspiration: Dean Yeagle

I know that this is a bit cheesecake, but I really like Dean Yeagle. He really gets good facial expressions on his characters and he has a great sense of design and drawing ability.

Inspiration & Education: Stephen Silver

I recently finished taking a class taught by Stephen Silver. It was one of the best character design classes that I have taken. I learned a lot about design and construction. I love his style; he was the main designer on Kim Possible and Danny Phantom on Disney and Nickelodeon. He’s also a great caricature artist.

Eliza & Higgins

I've really been enjoying designing these characters. My Fair Lady has fun characters with fun music. and I love the cool shapes in all of Elizas dress's. They lend themselves to good designs.

I love Al Hirchfield; he has such a fluid line, while still maintaining good construction.

Inspiration: Jose Lopez

I picked up a lot of sketchbooks at Comic-Con last month. One of my favorites was Jose Lopez's Mariachi Samurai. He is one of the Character Designers on "The Batman" on WB and was a character designer on "Jackie Chan Adventures.

More Lady

Here’s a few passes on Eliza & Higgins going back and forth between Blue pencil & Prismacolor marker, also playing with shapes and silhouettes. The last two are caricatures of the actors.

Eliza & Higgins roughs

Well I am finally able to post some stuff again. First I started out doing a lot of quick marker roughs to keep from noodling. (Will post more if time permits) Then I did more roughs in blue pencil to play more with shapes. I am planning on designing four of Eliza's outfits (The green flower girl, the black & white racing the white ball gown and the pink dress at the end of the movie outfits) and one of Higgins. I love the shapes & colors of these four outfits of Eliza. Higgins is fun because of his long gargoyle face.

My Fair Lady

I love musicals; one of my favorite movie musicals (besides all of the Disney ones) is My Fair Lady. I’m picking that for my next Character Design project and will be posting developmental art to show my process, techniques that I learned from my recent class with Stephen Silver, from the Animation Academy in Burbank and other places.
